This period property built in the 1920s had a lot of character, but lacked bright, modern spaces. It had not been updated for some time. The client’s brief was to create a home that would provide all of the space and convenience of a modern family home but retain the character and homely feel of a period property.

Pinchin Architects designed and project managed a full renovation in order to highlight the key features of the old property. We created high ceilings and used natural light to enhance its best characteristics.

The work included a double storey extension to the side of the property, allowing for a large modern kitchen, utility room and storage to be created. On the first floor, a new master bedroom and generous en suite were created with a vaulted ceiling. A loft conversion was also carried out in order to add a fourth bedroom to the house, which was essential in order to add back value to cover the investment required for the works.

The biggest enhancements were the improved flow of space through the property and the abundance of natural light brought into every room to create a really fantastic family home.
